CANCELLATION: BENNERLEY VIADUCT WALK, July 15th. Because of the high temperatures at the moment and also because the new cafe and information centre at one end of the Bennerley Viaduct is yet to be opened, we have decided to cancel it and rearrange it for a day in Autumn.

About the event
What we will do: Start walk at 10.30am from Ilkeston Train Station. We wait for bus/train in case of late arrival.
Walk: Approximately 6 miles. From Ilkeston Railway Station walk along the Erewash Canal southbound for a mile & then turn west to cross the midland railway footbridge going over the fields through Strelley Village & past the lions to Swingate, Kimberly & Bennerly Viaducts new visitor centre & cafe where we have lunch. Then walk over the viaduct onto the Erewash Canal & back to Ilkeston.

Directions by train: From Nottingham departure 10:17am arrives Ilkeston 10:29am. From Chesterfield / Alfreton (09:54/10:05 departures respectively) arrives Ilkeston 10:15am
Directions by car: Access to car park is off Station Road Ilkeston, very close to the roundabout with the A6096 and Coronation Road. Charges apply 7 days 24 hours. 24hr daily rate: £3.00. Off-peak day: £2.20 (Valid after 10:00 until 02:30 Mon-Fri)
